United 93 - A Great and Jarring Film. Pity About the Adiaphorous Closing Text

Saw United 93 this evening. Thankfully, the Leftist filmmakers and Universal Studios resisted the great obvious temptation to somehow blame President George Bush for the military's delayed reaction to the multiple hijackings of September 11, 2001.

But they very subtly revealed their cards with their choice closing text on the screen. Against a stark, faded-to-black, screen the juxtaposed white text dedicated the film to 'all those whose lives were lost' on September 11, 2001.

As if lives were accidentally lost, passively, like car keys or directions to the ballpark.

How much more effective a statement they could have made by being a little more truthful - something along the lines of 'This film is dedicated to all those who were murdered by Muslim terrorists on September 11, 2001.

And, note 'All', as opposed to, at the very least, 'all Innocents'.

The filmmakers must have realized that this film is sure to be a hit in the Muslim world, i.e., the world which danced in the streets when they saw images of the Twin Towers collapsing after their team won this particular skirmish in the battle for world domination. From the dark side of the moon the terrorists are celebrated and adored.

The best that lowly Palestinian homicide bombers can hope for is jumpy farewell footage from a cheap video camera as a memento and homage to their dastardly actions. The United 93 terrorists were given the full Hollywood widescreen treatment.

It would have been nice, especially given the very likely potential 'second' audience, had the filmmakers chosen to emphatically and deliberately exclude the murdering terrorists from the invocation at the film's end.

Other than that, the reenactment leaves decent people mildly comforted in the knowledge that our brethren, who found themselves in the most untenable situation imaginable, fought back against unbridled Islamic terrorists.

In spite of the demographic numbers disadvantage, hopefully the civilized and decent will ultimately win out in this battle for civilization.
