Danish Film Director Lars Von Trier attacks President Bush for no good reason

Danish Film Director Lars Von Trier delivers misguided ad hominem attack against President George Bush at the Cannes Film Festival

Danish film director Lars Von Trier exquisitely demonstrated the inherent pitfalls in learning English as a second language by watching American Music Videos; every second word in the student’s vocabulary will most likely be a curse word, and it will probably be used out of context.
By perusing his diatribe (see below) delivered to a packed Cannes Film Festival audience it would be obvious, even to a yob in downtown Vordingborg that Von Trier misses a rather obvious point; the America filling 60% percent of his brain and ‘influencing’ Denmark is precisely antithetical to the Norman Rockwell version of America which President Bush aspires to recreate.

America’s lowest expressions of art and popular culture export themselves globally faster than airborne viruses. The America which elevates gangsta rappers to deified status, which celebrates Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears and encourages eight-year-old little girls to dress and behave like downtown Las Vegas hookers, which is homogenizing the sights, sounds, and flavors of the planet is the America which Von Trier seems to despise. The irony must surely be lost on him that this is the identical America which embarrasses President Bush and about two hundred million of his countrymen, this one included.

Scandinavia, curiously, has figured out how to refry the worst America has to offer and re-export it back to the USA in the form of profanity-laced misogynistic cell phone ringtones screeching across the American landscape courtesy of 50 Cent and The Game.

As an ironic aside, Mr. Von Trier has in fact chosen to model his personal life along the lines of the tawdriest of American television soap operas. Leaving one’s pregnant wife for the babysitter who is half her age is so clichéd it must have been scripted in Burbank.

Von Trier’s blind hatred of President Bush coupled with his ‘Rosanne Rosannadanna’ misunderstanding of his subject matter reinforces the common occurrence of good artists being totally clueless and irrational in most other aspects of their lives. Hopefully he will reflect on his tomfoolery and have the guts to say ‘Never Mind’. I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath in anticipation.

Original Report of Danish Film Director Lars Von Trier’s anti-American and anti-President Bush diatribe at Cannes Film Festival

Lars von Trier, the enfant terrible of Danish filmmaking, attacked the United States and President George W. Bush after the premiere of his latest film, ‘Manderlay’, at the Cannes film festival on Monday.

The film was received with polite, but not overwhelming applause. ‘Manderlay’, which takes place in an Alabama plantation in 1933, where people do not seem to have noticed the abolishment of slavery, portrays the United States as failing to tackle its past racism.
After the premiere, von Trier rejected any attempt to label him as anti-American, and said he made films about the United States because of its influence on Denmark.

‘I feel there could just as well be an American military presence in Denmark. We are a nation under a very bad influence, because I think Bush is an asshole and doing a lot of really stupid things,’ he said. ‘America is sitting on the world and therefore I am making films about it. I’d say 60 percent of the things I have experienced in my life are American, so in fact I am an American. But I can’t go there and vote. That’s why I am making films about America.’

‘Manderlay’ is von Trier’s seventh selected for the Cannes’ main contest. It is the second part of a trilogy about the United States, preceded by ‘Dogville’.

Apart from ‘Manderlay’, Denmark is represented by Icelandic Dagur Kari’s black-and-white ‘Dark Horse’ in the contest category ‘Un Certain Regard’.

During his twelve years as Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Senator Cains

Monthly Magazines list of Ten Best Legislators, the Dallas Morning News said he was one of
the outstanding legislators of the 73rd session, and the Texas Department of Transportation

Seller Finance Licenses are very difficult to obtain and are usually reserved for the Big Boys

to collect the entire down payment, instead of paying a portion of it to the taxing authority.
This dramatically helps a finance companys bottom line if the buyer defaults on the loan.

is ready to take their business to the next level.
